Very elegant pair of “quiver” candlesticks Empire period, chiseled and gilded bronze.
From a turned base with a guilloché edge of braces emerges, in the centre, a dome of scales from which emerges a vase, adorned with a ring of laurel leaves, followed by leaves of water forming a plume. From the latter rises the conical shaft, decorated with a frieze of spiral heart-shaped stripes whose flare at the top forms the bobèche embellished with flowers and scrolls. This one, preceded by a large ring decorated with interlacing.
Binets with knurled edge of rows of pearls and stripes.
This form of candlestick, very popular under the 1st Empire, was the subject of several orders from the Garde Meuble for the imperial palaces.
The Mobilier national has in its collections three pairs of candlesticks very similar to the one on offer. Two are attributed to Claude Galle and one to André Antoine Ravrio.
Empire period.
Beautiful original gilding (slight wear to the inner circles of the base), small deposits of candle wax.
As usual, my objects are photographed naturally, without going through a photo studio. Because of this, you can enjoy them as they really are.
