Beautiful pair of candelabras in gilt bronze and brown patina from the early Empire period.
Of antique inspiration, symbolizing the return of Etruscan taste at the end of the 18th century, the Vestal Virgins carry a three-light oil lamp like canephores.
Beautiful finesse of execution with very nice details. A Corinthian hat with triple rams' heads, the sockets simulating the flames and their cups decorated with interlacing friezes.
The gilded bronzes adorning the quadrangular base are also very well chiselled. Harps and finials surrounded by diamonds.
Good state of conservation.
Original gilding. (The applied palmettes on the oil lamp of one of the two candelabra have been restored and gilded).
Empire-Consulate period.
