Elegant armchair from the period known as "Return from Egypt", extending from the Consulate at the beginning of the Empire period, in solid birch.
The slightly curved backrest, the straight armrest consoles come to rest on very finely sculpted Egyptian heads. The bodies of these, forming the front feet, end in large lion's legs.

The quality of Egyptian sculpture should be emphasized. Very few cabinetmakers were capable of so much precision and finesse of execution.
We naturally think of the succession of Georges Jacob, the company Jacob Frères.
Although we can also attribute this armchair to the work of Pierre Benoît Marcion or Charles Joseph Lemarchand, it is more natural when examining the details to bring it closer to the company "Jacob Frères".
Indeed, the perfect sculpture of Egyptian heads are analogous to those of an armchair delivered by Jacob Frères to the Château de Malmaison in 1801: see Mobilier National de France, the seats of Jacob-frères by Ernest Dumonthier, plate 29.
The claw feet, massive and rounded, are identical to those of a cherry wood armchair delivered by Jacob Frères to the Palace of Fontainebleau in 1802: see Jacob-frères seats, plate 32.

Beautiful state of conservation of origin, restoration of use, without reinforcements or transformation.
Stable seat with elegant velvet upholstery  green in perfect condition.

As with most of my art objects and furniture, I am very careful to be able to offer them to you at a very low expert estimate value.
