Elegant pair of candlesticks attributed to Claude Galle, in chased and gilded bronze  from the end of the 18th century. The inventory of the furniture of the Château de Fontainebleau, lists in 1807 a series of four identical candlesticks mentioned in the salon of the Grand Marshal.  The 1817 inventory mentions them in the same place.  Two of the four torches were transferred to the Château de Rambouillet under Louis-Philippe, before joining the Mobilier National in 1948: Stock number GML-6431-001 Illustrated and detailed in the book by Marie-France Dupuy-Baylet, "De bronze et de cristal", file 216 page 384. The Château de Fontainebleau still retains in its collections a torch from this series of four, illustrated in the book by Jean-Pierre Samoyault, "Clocks and furnishing bronzes entered under the First Empire at Fontainebleau", file 150 page 172. Rare model with its original gilding, good condition.  Louis XVI-Directory period, late 18th century.  Attributed to Claude Galle (1759-1815). As with all of my art objects and furniture, I am very careful to be able to offer them to you at a very low expert estimate. These torches are photographed in daylight. Because of this, you can enjoy them as they really are.
