Rare pair of queen-style armchairs with pediments from the Empire period, stamped Jacob. D rue Meslée on each of the rear cross members.

This stamp was used by Jacob Desmalter between 1803 and 1813.

Jacob Desmalter, François Honoré (1770-1841)

It is not easy to say more than all that is rewritten to present the most famous cabinetmaker of the Empire and the Restoration.

More than any other, Jacob-Desmalter embodies the Empire style and the diversity of its production, it is distinguished by the inventiveness of the forms, the quality of its models, its woods and its bronze decorations.

He is the son of Georges Jacob, one of the greatest cabinetmakers of the 18th century.
