I am proud to be able to offer you this rare pair of mahogany and mahogany veneer armchairs, including the dolphins in the armrest console.  present a superb quality of sculpture.
It is the same for the connecting dice of the armrests, carved in lotus leaves.
The rectangular backrest adorned with palmettes, the straight fluted armrests, the arched waistband and the four arched and massive legs come to affirm all the characteristics of the transition from the Consulate to the Empire in these armchairs.

Each of these two very beautiful pieces is stamped JACOB FRÈRES RUE MESLÉE.
Stamp used between 1797 and October 1813 by the association of the two sons of Georges Jacob: François Honoré Georges Jacob Desmalter and Georges II Jacob.

The latter take over their father's business under the name "Jacob frères". They produced furniture of very high quality during the turbulent period of the Consulate and perfectly announced the new Empire style in their orders for the First Consul, Napoleon Bonaparte.
The latter, returning from Italy, ordered from the Jacob brothers, for his bedroom rue Chantereine, a curious military furniture with the bed simulating a tent and the seats of the drums. Later the First Consul called on the same cabinet makers to refurnish the old royal residences devastated by the Revolution. After having produced until then works of a classic taste, which were worth especially by the character and the purity of the style, the Jacobs began to manufacture pieces more richly decorated with sculptures and sometimes decorated with bronzes. A gold medal was also awarded to them at the expolistion of the year IX.
The death of George II in October 1803 brought this very fine association to a close.

This is the rarest stamp of the Jacob dynasty.

Very good general condition.
Fine quality stitch and silk thread trim, probably vintage. Several stains on the seat.
Preferring to keep the original fabrics, I remain however available, if the purchaser wishes, to manage the logistics of his wishes.

Consulate period, circa 1800-1803

As with most of my art objects and furniture, I am very careful to be able to offer them to you at a very low expert estimate value.
