Here is the original of the model "with baskets", also called "in the spring", realized by Pierre Philippe Thomire in 1812, very often taken again by the bronziers "all public", forgive me the expression, until the end of the Restoration.
 The quality of the carving of each part making up this magnificent pair of torches shows you how the great bronze masters like Thomire differed from others.
 Take for example the basket of flowers, where the reliefs and perfect carvings, whose roses have nothing to envy to those of Feuchère (Psyche crowning love), almost make you forget that they are the fruit of a realization only manual.
 The model of the basket, precisely, is characteristic of the work of Pierre Philippe Thomire, whose carving gives the impression of wickerwork. It can be found identically on other models of torches also produced by Thomire, such as the pair of torches provided to the storage on October 18, 1809, for the bedroom of the Emperor's small apartment at the Château de Fontainebleau.
 The 1817 inventory also indicates that an identical pair was moved to the small bedroom of the king's apartment.

 I let you appreciate how each element, on either side of the fluted baluster, also characteristic of Thomire, has exceptional carving. Until the magnificent sunflowers adorning the binet.

 Rare thing for you to underline it, I did not carry out any cleaning for this pair of torches, the gilding being, as you see it, in a very good state of conservation.

 As with most of my art objects and furniture, I am very careful to be able to offer them to you at a very low expert estimate value.
 So that the pleasure of the eyes is the crown of a good investment.
